In the 21st century, globalization has become an irreversible trend of our times, profoundly influencing the development landscape across various fields such as economy, technology, and culture. As a shared human aspiration, the advancement of health care likewise cannot do without a global perspective and international cooperation. China, as a major player in the global economy and technological innovation, is actively integrating into the global health innovation ecosystem with an open attitude and forward-looking strategies, contributing unique Chinese wisdom to the cause of human health.

Health Challenges and Opportunities in a Globalized World
While globalization brings about efficient resource allocation and rapid technological dissemination, it also intensifies global health challenges. Infectious diseases know no borders, and non-traditional security threats such as climate change and environmental pollution pose new challenges to human health. Faced with these complex and ever-changing health issues, no single country can remain unaffected. Only through international cooperation—sharing resources, wisdom, and experience—can we effectively address these challenges. China deeply recognizes this fact and has integrated the concept of building a community with a shared future for mankind into the health sector. It advocates for reforming the global health governance system, promotes the establishment of more equitable and rational mechanisms for international cooperation, and injects new momentum into the global health cause.
Building an Innovation Ecosystem: Multi-Stakeholder Collaboration in Science and Technology
Innovation is the core driving force behind the development of the health sector. China adheres to an innovation-driven development strategy, significantly increasing investment in multiple fields—including pharmaceutical R&D, medical technology, and public health services—and has thus produced a number of innovative achievements that are internationally competitive. More importantly, China places great emphasis on building an open and collaborative innovation ecosystem, encouraging deep cooperation among government agencies, enterprises, research institutions, universities, and all sectors of society to create an innovation system that closely integrates industry, academia, research, and application. For example, by establishing National Medical Centers and Regional Medical Centers, China promotes the equitable distribution of medical resources; supports the development of innovative enterprises, accelerating the commercialization of scientific and technological achievements; and strengthens international scientific and technological exchanges and cooperation, importing, absorbing, and re-innovating to jointly tackle pressing health challenges. This multi-level innovation ecosystem provides robust support for the development of the health sector—both in China and around the world.
